Don’t let women tell you how to be a woman today.

In current times I feel that the spotlight is on women. We have been fighting for equality probably since the beginning of humanity!

But what I find most interesting is how women make women feel about being female in society today.

This is my perspective, it is somewhat subjective to my experiences. The way I see things may not be the way you see things and you may have some points to counter what I say. Well great I’m open to it. So here goes.

Why is it that today. Yesterday, and probably tomorrow, that I feel women look down on me when I say I would rather be a stay at home mom. I work a part time job by the way so I’m not currently doing as I’d wish BECAUSE BILLS. But why do women feel the need to force their fellow ladies to work. With utterings such as ‘women fought for their right to work’. Yes they did and I commend them. Although in my opinion they fought for the choice to work. Which is a polite way of saying, that if a woman wants to work, she can work. If a woman wants to be a stay at home mom, she can. Get over it.

Why is it that some women who are stay at home mothers look down on women who work? Yet commend the father for doing 72 hours per week. Did you know ladies that a fathers parental role is equally important to the child as yours? And that’s been quantified people.

Why is it that women who choose not to be mothers are selfish? I’d rather a woman make the decision not to have a child if she feels she does not want to be a mother!

Why is it that women who show more flesh are not empowered ? Of course they are. So are women who wear a suit to work. So are women who are doing the washing up in their own home right now. So are women who wear makeup. SO ARE WOMEN WHO DON’T. Because a woman is empowered when she feels that she is. Isn’t being controlled by what other women think just a little bit counter productive?

What is the point in equality amongst men and women if women do not stop to reflect on how they treat eachother.

I feel most judgement on females comes from females. I hear comments like this all the time falling from the mouths of women: “she looks like a boy her hair is short” “She’s not a woman she’s flat chested” “A real woman isn’t just skin and bones” “She’s too muscly, no way is she a woman”… HOLD UP SALLY, I have some news for you! They are ALL women.

What I am trying to say in all this is that we should be raising each other up. Admiring our individual strengths. There isn’t a rule book on how to be a woman we just are. If you are kind hearted then you are wonderful. Empower yourself the way you see fit and don’t let opinion dictate your life.

Don’t let other women tell you how to be a woman today.

10 points to whoever counts how many times I say ‘woman’ in this piece 😂! I hope you enjoyed reading my rant! Let me know what you think!

Where’d you get those lashes hun?

This blog post was prompted by a comment I received from one of my Instagram followers!

It was on this video right here:

By a young lady asking me where I bought my lashes! So I decided to write a lil old review for all of my blogging beauties!

I bought them from my local Asda Superstore! They set me back £8, which in my opinion is actually really good for a set of two lashes!

The glue is provided, and as the box states they are re-useable which is always an absolute bonus! I have worn one pair 3 times now and I would say they are starting to lose shape now. So six uses out of a box of two seems relatively good!

The only slight downfall to that is that I am not sure the glue will last that long to be honest. It’s a very small container, but I haven’t used it up yet so I wouldn’t know for certain just yet.

As you can see in the video the lashes look very luxurious. They don’t overpower the look and they are very easy to apply.

So if you love these lashes, and you live in the UK 😜. Head on down to your local Asda and grab yourself some!

As always, if you enjoyed this post and you’re not following already… then what are you waiting for!

MAKEUP MONDAY 03: Mermaid 🧜🏻‍♀️

Today I am sharing with you my Mermaid Makeup Look!

I’ve got to be honest folks. I’m not 100% pleased with it as a whole. I just feel like I was kind of having a bad makeup/hair day and it didn’t quite live up to my expectations! I thought I would share it with you anyway because there are still some aspects of the look that I do like!

I like the mix of purple, blue and green. I feel like it really does look mermaidy (lol well that word is made up for sure).

I added some gold glitter to the lids to make everything a bit more magical and I think that these colours compliment my hazel eyes.

I was playing around with an app called musically and I came across this beautiful sparkly filter. This blog post has actually made me like the look more as a whole now I’ve reviewed the photographs and thought about it a little 😁! That’s just one of the things I love about blogging. It makes you reflect!

What do you guys think?

I would love to know what other colours or makeup looks you would like to see me try!?

It would mean the world to me if you could follow me if you don’t already! Also my Instagram is @lollyhm.fashion if you’re particularly interested in my photographs!

FASHION FRIDAY 03: Tropical Sun ☀️

It is FRIDAY! Which means today’s blog post is all about…. FASHION!

If you have been following my blog you will know that I do not like the cold. I feel that is reflected in my attire as I never seem to be wearing anything even remotely warm 😂!

I may have fair skin, but I believe I was born for a warmer climate!

Because it’s been so gloomy, I can’t help but daydream about a holiday to Malaga a few years ago, where I wore this beautiful dress!

It’s just not the done thing to walk around the UK like this.

1: Because I would get pneumonia.

2. I would probably get some strange looks.

So I will stick to wearing these sorts of things for my fashion Friday posts until it becomes a little warmer!

I just love the colour of this dress and the tropical plants in the print! The bralette style bust compliments my body type along with the bodycon fit! If I do say so myself haha

I’m not sure I could handle two of me to be honest. My husband seems to think he would like two of me around the house 🙄 I wonder why!

This beaut dress is from one of my favourite online fashion brands Misguided who are sure to be pulling out some more bangers for your holiday this summer! Check them out if you haven’t, their clothes are amazing and affordable!

What do you think!

Hello March! Let’s talk about February!

It is a brand new Month! I would love to say it’s getting warmer here in the UK, but no! It’s actually snowing as I type this!

I’m thinking the start of each month is a good time to write a monthly review! Why? Because I feel that in order to improve my blog and life path, I need to periodically check in with myself to make sure I am making and hitting GOALS!

In terms of blogging, I had a brilliant month! I had around 500 views in January and I have managed to absolutely smash that amount with a total of over 3,000 in Feb 🤩! So thank you to every single one of you I guess!

These views were accumulated from nearly 1,000 visitors! I think this is a good thing, because it means that lots of people are sticking around and reading some of my other posts once they have read one!

My blogging goals for March are:

  • Hit 4,000 views.
  • Hit 1,300 visitors.
  • Hit 1,500 likes.
  • Receive 400 comments.
  • Gain 500 Followers

I am hopeful I will achieve these goals!

I know I keep saying this but I have been so pleasantly surprised by all the love and support I have received from my fellow bloggers! It really is such a wonderful community!

In terms of my Instagram account, I had a really bad month! Well the last week of it was the bad part! Basically I was working really hard on my account @loleihm and I was almost at 300 followers! Unfortunately I fell victim to instagrams illusive ‘shadow ban’

It took a lot of my energy and motivation to start over and make a new account! But I am now up to 80 followers in 4 days! Which is not a bad start at all! That account is @lollyhm.fashion if you’re an instagrammer!

I am going to be writing a blog post about the shadow ban at some point so you will have more information on what it is and how to prevent it happening!

In the coming month:

I really want to start seeing some major activity on both my Instagram and my blog, I am going to continue with my daily posts on both accounts. I started the journey, which is always the hardest part! So I’m looking forward to continuing my hard work and seeing even more fantastic results!

Thanks for sticking with me!

How to contour your nose, and why I was doing it wrong! 👃🏼

You heard it!… I must have started contouring around two years ago when I got my first contouring palette for Christmas!

I fell in love instantly, and I looked up a couple of tutorials on how to contour, nothing major though because I thought, it’s easy ya’ll I got this! Fast forward to around a month ago I saw an image that legit changed my life! Ok maybe not my life but it definitely upped my makeup game by at least 30%!

This was the image:

Thank you to the human who made this image. Before this I was legit contouring my nose thinking what the hell is this penis looking junk all up on my face, I was supposed to be making my nose look better not making it look like a sausage! This got me wondering how many other contour loving people have been doing the exact same thing!

The new contour technique worked like a dream on my nose as soon as I tried it! So I decided to put together a couple of images myself to show you guys the difference it makes!

Just focusing on the nose here (as I was also in the process of contouring the rest of my face during this process) The top two images show the ‘penis contour’ as I like to call it. You can see that when it is blended, it doesn’t actually make for a very appealing look! The bottom row of images shows you the ‘anchor style’ contour!.. I just made that name up for the purpose of this post so let me know if it has another name 🤣!

Can you see the difference? I really think it makes my nose look a lot more appealing! It is also a lot easier to add highlight to the better defined lighter areas too, which again adds to the overall improvement!

I found a throwback image of the old contour style, and an image from yesterday using the correct technique just to show you guys the difference!

With this new found knowledge, I really feel that I have improved my skills in the makeup department and would love to know your thoughts on the topic!
